Good day!!! Today is my opporunity to appear for the LA Superior Court and present myself as a potential Jury member. So, I followed the directions... got good sleep, left early this morning, arrived on time, brought my paper work, excused myself from work, brought a book and some snakes, and now, at this very moment, I'm patiently waiting here in the Jury Assembly Room using their free internet computors! I've served previously, about two years ago at the downtown LA courthouse, but this is my first time at the Van Nuys court. So far so good, all of us jurors have finished orientation and are now on standby waiting to hear if the five cases today will be needing us, and when.
So, what comes to mind for you when I say "jury duty"??? For some people, it is Pauly Shore and the nearly hilarious movie "
Jury Duty
" but for others the first thing that comes to mind is "Aw heck! I don't have time for this!" Well, for me its the word "service." Service is an act of giving. Giving is an act of love. And all the world needs is love.
So good luck to me and any criminals or civil disputes that get in my way today! ;)
be well
